Mac Pro Completes Intel Transition

MacBook
Apple's new Mac Pro will make the retired PowerMac G5 hard to remember. The new Mac Pro is twice as fast as the fastest G5 it replaces offering two Dual-Core Intel Xeon processors for quad processing across the Mac Pro lineup. It has room for twice as many hard drives and optical drives. It can be configured with up to 3.0 GHz processors, 16 GB or RAM and 2 TB of storage.

Cinema Displays Now More Affordable

Cinema Display
With a new Mac Pro bringing the price of Quad processing power down by hundreds of dollars Apple also lowered the price of its Cinema Displays. A 23=94 Cinema Display is now only $1,099. The new Mac Pro will easily drive two --so be sure to double up! And Apple=92s 30=94 Cinema Display is now down to only $2299. (NB. Both of these items were introduced to the Canadian market at $6,000 - ed.)

Font Management Wars

Windows
The font management wars continue as the three great powers struggle for the upper hand in controlling Tiger=92s many font locations. Recent updates have brought Intel compatibility to Extensis Suitcase Fusion 12.1.2, Insider Software=92s Font Agent Pro 3.3, and LinoType=92s free FontExplorerX 1.1. Each also has a variety of bug fixes and performance enhancements. At Precursor we test them all and are currently leaning toward Font Agent Pro as our management utility of choice. We=92ve set up an on-line poll to see what management utility you favour. If you vote in our poll you will receive access to our specially compiled list of font resources.
