1. Does Precursor Systems sell the iPhone?

No. Only Rogers, Fido and select Apple Stores sell the iPhone in Canada.

2. If you don't sell it, how do you know so much about it?

I've been a big fan of the iPhone since I saw the original iPhone presentation in San Francisco in January, 2007. I've been using my iPhone in both Canada and the U.S. since August, 2007.

3. Why is the iPhone so great?

The iPhone is a revolution in phone interface design. It is the first "smart phone" that is easy to use by "the rest of us". If you have got eyes and fingers then you can use all the features of the iPhone without referring to a manual and without 24/7 BlackBerry enterprise support.

4. When can I get one?

The iPhone 3G will go on sale in Canada on July 11'th.

5. Where can I get it?

The iPhone will be available at Rogers and Fido dealers. As far as we know, there will be no pre-ordering. You will have to purchase it in person and activate the phone while at the dealers.

6. What's the difference between Rogers and Fido?

The Fido network is now owned by Rogers. They use the same towers although Fido users tend to pay extra to access Rogers towers that are outside major urban areas. Roughly speaking, Fido tends to emphasize value-based pricing while Rogers tends to emphasize premium and expanded services.

7. How much does iPhone cost?

As far as we know, the iPhone 3G itself will cost $199 for the 8 GB version and $299 for the 16 GB version. You will also need to sign up for a combined voice and data plan as follows:

Rogers Plans
Data: What you get

Rogers and Fido will both offer the same plans as above. However, Fido will offer per-second billing while Rogers will instead offer unlimited Wi-Fi access at all Rogers/Fido Hot Spots.
Consult your Rogers and/or Fido dealer for more details.

8. Do I need to buy a new plan?

As far as we know, if you are new to Rogers/Fido you will have to purchase a multi-year plan. We don't have any information about upgrades. Check with your Roger/Fido dealer for details.

9. Can I use my Telus/MTS number?

Under Canadian law you can now port your Telus or MTS number over to Rogers/Fido. Check with your Rogers/Fido dealer for details.
